Summer is on its way out which means KOTESOL is back in after the long break. However, due to an early Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) this year, we will be holding the monthly KOTESOL workshop on the second Saturday instead of the usual first Saturday of the month.

To hit the ground running, we have an exciting workshop presented by not one but two presenters: KNU professor Michael Kealey who deftly blends technology with traditional pedagogical practices into his classroom, and Daegu University's Patrick King - a keen educator with a special interest in motivational strategies for English language teaching.

From Mike: “This presentation will overview mobile learning and mobile-assisted language learning (MALL). It will also explore the implications of the rapid evolution of mobile technologies; the capabilities and limitations of today’s apps and mobile devices; and the possibilities offered by future-generation technologies."

From Pat: "It's a new semester. We need to re-energize ourselves. So let's talk motivation. What works? What doesn't? There is a mountain of research on motivation, and tons of quotes online.
This session offers an overview of some of that research. And a chance to recharge our batteries for the term ahead."

Mike Kealey is a doctoral candidate in TESOL and Technology Enhanced Learning at the Open University (UK). He has taught EFL in Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. He currently teaches at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea.

Pat King has a masters in education and is in his second year of English teaching at Daegu University. Prior to that he taught 4 years at Kangwon National University. From 2006-2008 he worked at the Korea JoongAng Daily newspaper. He also worked as a journalist in the U.S. TESOL concentration, from Framingham State University.

We look forward to seeing you at the workshop!
