Daegu-Gyeongbuk KOTESOL January 2015 Chapter Workshop

Date:
Saturday, January 3, 2015 - 15:00 to 17:00

Can you believe we are on the cusp of 2015 already?  The tail end of this year has just absolutely whizzed past in a blur. Come and join us on the 3rd of January for our first chapter workshop of 2015.  It looks set to be a very interesting session indeed, with a talk on reflective practice by David Harbinson.  It's a term that we hear a lot these days in EFL, so pop in and learn a little more about what it could mean for your personal teaching practice.

Reflective Practice: Exploring the Experiential Learning Cycle
Many teachers may have heard of the term ‘reflection’ before, but what does it mean when it comes to teaching? While reflecting on your teaching is a personal activity, and there is no right or wrong way to go about it, there are some things that teachers can do to enhance the reflective process. In this interactive workshop, we will look at what the term reflective practice means, and explore the Experiential Learning Cycle (ELC). Participants will have the chance to use the ELC to reflect on moments from their own classrooms. It is hoped you will leave with a better understanding of the ELC and how it can be used both during lessons and after the class.

Bio
David is an EFL teacher, originally from the UK, but now based in Daegu, where he has been for the past 7 years. He’s been a member of the Daegu KOTESOL Reflective Practice Group since the start of 2014, and can be found on Twitter @DavidHarbinson or his blog DavidHarbinson.com.

We usually have a chapter social event after the workshop, from about 17h30 - 19h00, so feel free to join us for dinner and a chat.
