AI can dramatically reshape classrooms, whether educators are prepared for it or not. While much discussion centers on its capabilities, are we truly considering its impact on student engagement? How does AI alter the way learners connect, think, and interact? This session explores AI’s benefits and drawbacks, uncovering overlooked effects that may be reshaping education in unexpected ways.
Bio
Dr. Robert Stroud is a professor at Hosei University in Japan, where he explores the dynamic intersection of technology and English language education. His latest research investigates AI’s evolving role in student interactions, analyzing its potential to enhance—or disrupt—the genuine human connections essential for meaningful learning. In addition to his academic work, he serves as editor of The University Grapevine.
