Membership



All English teachers or English-based businesses, of any level or nationality, are eligible to join KOTESOL. We welcome native and non-native speakers of English teaching at primary schools, secondary schools, language institutes, companies, and colleges/universities. Undergraduate/graduate students may also join as student members. Please use the online membership application for joining and renewal. You will need to submit payment for your membership (via bank/wire transfer) before you submit the final form.  By paying first the authorization process will speed up.

Why Join KOTESOL?

The benefits of KOTESOL membership include:

  8. Membership in Special Interest Groups (SIGs), e.g., Young Learners & Teens, Multimedia and Computer-assisted Language Learning, and Christian Teachers.

(Note: Membership applications received after September 30 may not be processed in time for the International Conference. After September 30, please apply for membership or renew at the Conference venue along with onsite registration to ensure that you receive your membership benefits at the Conference.)

There are five different types of membership: Regular, Undergraduate StudentLifetimeInternational and Organizational Partner. Details concerning the different types of membership are listed below. You may also wish to view our about KOTESOL page for a look at who and what we are.

Regular Membership

  • The period of membership shall be twelve (12) months from the time of application and to the last day of the twelfth month. Applications made in October, the month of the International Conference, shall run through September 30th of the following year. Renewals shall run for a full twelve months.
  • Annual dues are 40,000 won.
  • Can attend chapter meetings, and national and regional conferences and other events. Currently Korea TESOL has ten chapters: Jeonju-North Jeolla, Suwon-Gyeonggi, Yongin-Gyeonggi, Busan-Gyeongnam, Seoul, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Daejeon-Chungcheong, Gwangju-Jeonnam, Gangwon, and Jeju.
  • Can participate in KOTESOL SIG (Special Interest Group) activities.
  • Receive a registration fee discount at the annual International Conference, National Conference, and Chapter conferences, symposia, and other events.
  • Receive current issues of The English Connection, a quarterly newsmagazine featuring articles related to language teaching/learning, teaching tips, reviews, and KOTESOL news and notices of upcoming meetings and conferences, as well as information on a variety of language teaching materials.
  • Receive current issues of the Korea TESOL Journal, an annual peer-reviewed journal featuring both practical and theoretical articles and research reports, and book and materials reviews.
  • Receive the annual (current) Conference Proceedings, a publication of papers presented at the annual International Conference.

Undergraduate Student Membership

  • The period of membership shall be twelve (12) months from the time of application and to the last day of the twelfth month. Applications made in October, the month of the International Conference, shall run through September 30 of the following year. Renewals shall run for a full twelve months.
  • Annual dues are 20,000 won (to email proof of student status click here)
  • All the benefits for Student Membership are the same as for Regular Membership.

Lifetime Membership

  • Lifetime dues are 400,000 won.
  • All the benefits are the same as for Regular Membership.

International Membership

  • The period of membership shall be twelve (12) months from the time of application and to the last day of the twelfth month. Applications made in October, the month of the International Conference, shall run through September 30 of the following year. Renewals shall run for a full twelve months.
  • Annual dues are US$60.00.
  • All the benefits are the same as for Regular Membership.

Organizational Partner Membership

  • Organizational Partners are those non-profit and for-profit organizations that affiliate with Korea TESOL for the mutual benefit of KOTESOL's individual members and the organizations' own aims.
  • Marketing displays at the annual International Conference are limited to KOTESOL Organizational Partners.
