Daegu KOTESOL March Workshop Review

KOTESOL Daegu-Gyeongbuk chapter has restarted monthly workshops on the first Saturday in March after with a very interactive and practical presentation by Leonie OverbeekĀ

An English teacher in South Korea since 2007 and teacher trainer before that, Leonie presented on the topic of 'Vocabulary Games: What, Why and How.' In particular, Leonie drew attention to the difference between activities vs. games and playing vs. play as well as stressing the importance of determining the roles and the rules of play.

This workshop was wonderfully 'hands-on' and encouraged participation from all participants. Leonie also provided an article outlining the techniques (see vocabulary games in the Korean class.pdf below) with examples (see vocabulary games handout.pdf below). Also, an entertaining video on the techniques is available on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/wP0TuSAEl5U

On the first Saturday in April, KOTESOL Daegu-Gyeongbuk chapter welcomes Phillipa Arthur who will be presenting on the topic 'Classroom English for Authentic Interaction'. We look forward to seeing you there!
