Welcome Message
Multimedia and CALL (Computer-assisted language learning) SIG

SIG Members (and those interested),
The KoreaTESOL Multimedia and Computer-Assisted Language Learning Special Interest Group (MCALL SIG) proudly presents a new frontier in Virtual Learning that will be plug-and-play and be pedagogically sound for application in language classrooms. Second Life for Educators expert, Paul Preibisch, will lead two 4-hour workshops, Your Classroom on the Web, and in a Virtual World.
Participants may attend in person or virtually, but it is strongly advised to attend in person on the first workshop as it can be a foundation for subsequent workshops to build on. At the end of the workshops participants will be able to incorporate virtual learning in their classrooms.
Description: In this comprehensive workshop, educators will learn/improve upon their Moodle, Sloodle, and Second Life applications for their language classrooms. Each participant will get one month of free hosting provided to them with their very own Moodle Website which will also automatically be connected to the virtual world of Second Life! This means that not only can their students submit assignments, take quizzes, and participate in cool activities via the web, but they can also meet live in 3D with their own virtual character (avatar)! Through these workshops, participants will learn how to meld a popular gaming/meeting environment that engages students in 3D language learning through a pedagogically sound learning environment.
Participants will leave with:
Their very own themed Moodle website
Their very own 3D Classroom
3D activity examples and lesson plan ideas
